Dr Wael Berro has international experience in programme implementation, management and coordination in the fields of medicine and health. He has strong organisation, planning and business acumen skills and cites his strengths as communication, negotiating and influencing.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics degree, an MSc in Health Policy Planning and Financing, and a BSc in Public Health, Dr Berro began his career in 2006 as a trainee doctor, working as a registrar in Rehabilitation Medicine, Clinical Immunology and Allergy and Gastroenterology in Dublin, Ireland. From 2008 to 2010, Dr Berro also held the role of associate tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons (also in Dublin). During this time, he undertook the clinical teaching of third year medical students that attended Beaumont Hospital on clinical rotation.
In 2016, Dr Berro became the associate medical director and family medicine consultant at the Emirates Hospital in Dubai, UAE, where he assisted the medical director to oversee the daily operations of the hospital while also diagnosing and treating patients. From 2018 to 2020, Dr Berro was the medical director and family medicine consultant at King’s College Hospital London – Dubai, Jumeirah branch, where he provided operational supervision, managing a team of 11 doctors, 12 nurses and 15 support staff.
Since 2016, Dr Berro has been a self-employed family medicine physician in the primary care sector, responsible for providing diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care and condition management for patients on an out-patient basis.
